McGill University (From a Male Point of View)

Accommodation
During my first year, I didn’t have the opportunity to stay in the on-campus housing as I was pretty sluggish in doing the application for the residence. But it was a no problem for me as Montréal offers variety of housing whether near or far from campus. I did find a 700$ per month apartment situated quite near the university and believe me you can find even better because I did find one in my second year. I found a 400$ apartment only 2 mins away from university, sounds like too good to be true doesn’t it ? You guys can check website for offcampus housing, Montreal craiglist, kijiji montreal and the mcgill offcampus housing is a good one too!

Food
There are quite variety of dishes in Montréal from Asian to middle east type of food. It’s easy to find Asian food as the Chinatown is quite big but don’t put your hope too much as there’s no maggi curry but we do have sayur kangkung , tom yam paste. For muslim, halal food also is not much a hassle to find in Montréal. There is one Lebanese store selling halal meat very near to the university. My recommendation is that you cook as to eat outside is quite expensive and believe me on that one.

Lifestyle
Montreal and mcgill offer quite a radiating style as we are the French wannabe people. In the university, don’t be surprised if you can find a variety fashion from the student. The biggest underground shopping complex is right in front of the university eye and it’s just a 1 min walking so you can imagine how much each student shops, actually I don’t know either. But trust me, Montréal is fun and nice.

Attraction
We have the famous so-called European building situated at the old Montréal or old port about 10 mins walking from the campus. During summer, we have la ronde fun park and during the winter we have the parc jean drapu for winter activities such as ice skating, toboggan n etc. other than that, we have the Olympic stadium, notre dame basilica church and trust me the old port is so so awesome to take a walk in any season, but my preference is autumn as we can see the nice color.

Study
I don’t think there is a much to talk here, anywhere in the world, if you are not passionate enough and doesn’t have the determination you can’t succeed. So all I can say here is work hard guys !

In a nutshell, Welcome to Montreal and blend in to the awesomeness.
