University of Saskatchewan

 

"CANADA?? x market la". That was my first impression when I got the offer from JPA. But now, I'm so glad that I'm studying in CANADA, specifically University of Saskatchewan. The name itself sounds weird and I'm pretty sure none of your lecturers in ICPU would suggest this place. But for some reasons, I put this university as my first choice though I got offers from other good universities. Frankly speaking, this university is a good place for these kinds of students:

1) Biotech students, and not really recommended for engineering. Trust me, they are offering good Biological stuffs. Lots of fun n "kualiti terjamin". ;)

2) Those who are sick of living in big cities. Saskatoon is kinda "kampung", but it's not that bad, kre standard Ipoh gak la. LESS DISTRACTIONS, ENTERTAINMENT, and more PEACEFUL. I'm highligting those points because they taught me to b more discipline in spending money n time. You can actually save your allowance n use it during the winter break. Go to another parts of Canada, but for the first year, i would

suggest Edmonton. it only takes 5 hours by bus. SHOPAHOLICS should go there. I believe that you won't spend a lot in a city called Saskatoon.

3) Seeking for a good place to improve English. This is a good point I think because currently there are only 3 Malay students and majority is Chinese. so, you will definitely have to mingle around and make new friends, rite. I can hardly speak "bahasa" in Saskatoon. There's no way that you can speak bahasa like in Malaysia. The Malaysians community is not that huge, around 30 people. So you can actually know almost all of them, and they're all nice. Even the Malaysian Students Association (MASA) is joined by students from other country like Singapore and Cambodia. so like, u can actually make a lot of friends. There's a lot of activities organized for international students as well.

For those who are considering university outside of Ontario, U of S should be one of your choices. Our former minister of MOSTI has actually visited this place and he believes in the potential of the university in Science, specifically Biotech. There's also a politician graduated from this university. Google it if u wanna know who is she.If you wanna compare all the universities in Canada, many criteria should b considered. I do have friends who have transferred from other good universities and they said U of S treats them the best. We might not b the best university in Canada, but we can be the best for u!
