Attention to all engineers.
I have a tips for you all. Maybe. lol.
I think you should study a bit about FORTRAN, another high level programming language.
Fortran is specific for engineers i think, because it deals with converting mathematical equation into computers language and more!
Fortran (previously FORTRAN[1]) is a general-purpose,[2] procedural,[3] imperative programming language that is especially suited to numeric computation and scientific computing
If you are taking Programming for Engineers (Fortran), you can download FORCE 2.0(language editor and compiler). And if you want the notes, I can give you my lecturer's slides. The concept is the same with JAVA and C++, but in other language only.

I'm no CS major but isn't FORTRAN a really old language. I remember my dad used to use it on his old Apple II. Isn't it obsolete by now?
owh thank you .
You will be using Matlab for Numerical Methods.
"
Jack Little and Cleve Moler, the founders of The MathWorks, recognized the need among engineers and scientists for more powerful and productive computation environments beyond those provided by languages such as Fortran and C. In response to that need, they combined their expertise in mathematics, engineering, and computer science to develop MATLAB®, a high-performance technical computing environment. MATLAB combines comprehensive math and graphics functions with a powerful high-level language. In addition to MATLAB, The MathWorks now develops and markets Simulink®, a product for simulating nonlinear dynamic systems "(http://my-aesi.blogspot.com/2005/12/who-created-matlab.html)
